Berkley Island Camping Trip

September 2014 – Our troop went to Berkley Island in Hartfield, Va. Mr. Mollenauer’s brought his canoes, and Mr. Owen, Mr. Twente, and Andy brought their power boats. We used these to transport our gear to the island. The island was pretty small, and there was a rickety bridge over some swampy water from the beach to the camping area. Some of the guys brought hammocks to sleep in, but most brought tents. On the first day, people went tubing and wakeboarding, but we didn’t get a chance go on the second day. There were many crabs and snails on the island, and some people found very big crabs. On our second day, Hunter found a chicken head in the water, and It was brought to the campsite by Kyle. After that, no one wanted to go near it. Lots of people brought pop tarts to eat. Even though the communications for some patrol cooking was off and they had to borrow from other patrols. All in all, it was a good camp out.
